"used to be a partisan to LeMarketson's theory but I lost the bet"

Song: Levitibus
Album: Rip the Jacker

Does anyone know what "LeMarketson's theory" is? I tried searching it but all that comes up is the lyrics from the song... I have a feeling he meant to say Lamarck's theory. However, when listening to the song, he pronounces it Le-Mark-et-son's and that is how it is spelled in the lyrics... so, am I correct? Did he mean Lamarck? If anyone knows, please post your response - I am interested in finding out.

(If you don't know who Lamarck was... google or wikipedia it.)
Knowledge God
on the lyrics by ghetto scholar they spell it Lamarkinson's theory which is what it sounds like but there is no info on google about this.

if think you are right about lamarck. it could be 'Lamarckism theory'

dont worry about it

Thank you for your input, but I AM worried about it... if you are NOT worried about it, then you probably should'nt take the time to reply, informing everyone that you are NOT worried about it.

This is a Canibus forum designed for the discussion of Canibus related topics (which I think my topic is highly related...).

Anyone who feels that a topic is not worthy of discussion is free to NOT discuss it.

That being said, I am not going to argue with any Chair-Borne Rangers on here.

Now, anyone who wishes to contribute to this discussion please feel free to do so... but if you are going to criticize it or attempt to induce conflict, I would rather not spend the meager seconds of my life taking the time to read what you have to say.

There's a slight chance it has something to do with this:

The Social Context for Learning

"Current Educational Reform and the Significance of Problem-based Learning." Margetson, Don. Studies in Higher Education, 19:5-19, 1994, ERIC Document Number: EJ481764.
Margetson proposes problem-based learning as a possible basis for implementation of meaningful higher education reform. He begins by discussing issues related to government-imposed higher education reform. Next, he moves to an explanation of a problem-based approach to learning using medical education as an example. He contrasts this with traditional, or subject-based learning and then describes epistemological differences in the two approaches. Finally, he proposes problem-based learning as a possible answer to demands for higher education reform, as a way of addressing current skepticism about higher education and satisfying the demand within higher education for rigorous and theoretical approaches.
"The qualities of problem-based learning, such as openness, self-directed learning, group work, cooperative peer learning, reflective, constructive, critical evaluation, and assessment...suggest a significant potential which is still to be fully investigated and developed in practice" (p. 17).

Lamarck seems to be more plausible, but still...Margetson sounds like what he's saying.

It wouldn't explain the 'la' though...

I'm probably wrong

Dick Shenary, that is a nice find... I deem that to be a credible explanation. You are correct though, it does not contain the La/Le, therefore it might not pertain to what he is saying. In addition, I did not review the link yet since I must leave shortly, but it did not appear to be a 'theory'... more of a study, perhaps? I will look into that when I have more time. However, thus far it is the second most reasonable explanation. If anyone else has an explanaition, please post it.

Great song, Not exactly sure where this comes from but I find it a GREAT read.

Levitibus

night_shade

Leviticus: Hebrew Wayiqra ' (And He Called), the third book of the Latin Vulgate Bible, the name of which designates its contents as a book (or manual) primarily concerned with the priests and their duties. Although Leviticus is basically a book of laws, it also contains some narrative.

I harness the power of the chakra[1]
Remote-viewing[2] into darkness describing what I see in the process
Is stone statues surrounded by neo-lithic objects[3], geoglyphs[4] on the Pampa[5]
A dose of Ptolemy[6] makes you feel like a dream
The Dream State[7] is the playground for the supreme
Critics attempt to follow a trend
Today they call me a charlatan[8], but tomorrow I will be the god of men
To create a universe all I need is one thousand trillion, trillion degrees[9]
Sodium 22[10], betatrons[11] and a cloud chamber[12]
Keep the noise down so I don't arouse my neighbors
Got a message from a falcon and a snowman[13] , and left a note in a Coca-Cola can[14]
Show the whole planet coded program
Encrypted by a pro-scan[15] modem with a low-band[16], hold up let me load it in.

I was created by an intelligent design[17], you are merely a descendant of the immodified[18]
You diss me out of pride,
But when you’re finished talking about money and bitches you simply out of rhymes
Even my worst album was sublime
If I don't slow down I'll distort the timeline
Back through the time, turn to a hundred bars again
A master like the honorable Earl of Carnarvon[19]
The Grand Architect[20]
Used to be a partisan[21] to the Marcus theory[22a] but I lost the bet[22b]
No regrets, you live and you learn
I'm through giving advice, I just give concerns
Sterilize my hands to prevent catching the germs
And try to rebuild all the bridges I burned
I prefer modesty over controversy
But what am I to do when these jerks keep bothering me
Jealous cause they can't rhyme like me
And they never had a scientific mind like me

I'm above average with verbal semantics[23]
The Aurora Borealis[24] in the form of a rap ballad
They look at me like "poor bastard"
Why can't you manipulate billboards with all your metaphor magic?
No matter how I hard I practice
Every microphone I saw I grabbed it
Obviously that's the wrong tactic
I went through a long period of mourning and sadness when I wrote that Stan shit
But if you want to hear some hardcore Canibus just say so
Then I come out the eggroll[25] with 7 dead scrolls[26]
If you could find a better flow
Then I can find a dinosaur on the Galapagos archipelago[27]
Hey, you shouldn't fall for the naïveté[28]
Lyrically I'm the illest when my beats is ok
Food for thought, nutrition for the whole brain[29]
Keep your neurotransmitters[30] warm on a cold day
I'm ahead of my time, or so they say
I guess that's why I already feel old and gray
Ok, that's enough knowledge for today, I'm killing them
You better not forget it cause this is Levitibus

1. Chakra: One of the seven centers of spiritual energy in the human body according to yoga philosophy.

2. Remote viewing is a controlled and trainable mental process involving psi or psychic ability. Remote viewers use one of more of these styles to psychically gather descriptive data relating to a "target," which is usually some place or event at some point in time.

3. Neolithic: Of or relating to the cultural period of the Stone Age beginning around 10,000 B.C. in the Middle East and later elsewhere, characterized by the development of agriculture and the making of polished stone implements. The Neolithic era includes the latter half of the ``Stone age;'' the human relics which belong to it are associated with the remains of animals not yet extinct.

4. The Ancients of the Nazca Plains breathed life into the parched Peruvian wasteland with incredible indelible artworks created across hundreds of square miles of the desert surface. Their canvas called the Pampa Colorada meaning Red Plain for the reddish-brown stones that characterize its surface, is a plateau 37 miles long and l5 miles wide - a huge chalkboard. On it is etched works of monumental proportion, a montage of geometric formations called “geoglyphs”

5. Pampa: An extensive treeless grassland area, as found in southern South America.
See Pampa Colorado above.

6. One of the most influential Greek astronomers and geographers of his time, Ptolemy propounded the geocentric theory in a form that prevailed for 1400 years. However, of all the ancient Greek mathematicians, it is fair to say that his work has generated more discussion and argument than any other. We shall discuss the arguments below for, depending on which are correct, they portray Ptolemy in very different lights. The arguments of some historians show that Ptolemy was a mathematician of the very top rank, arguments of others show that he was no more than a superb expositor, but far worse, some even claim that he committed a crime against his fellow scientists by betraying the ethics and integrity of his profession.

7. a. Sigmund Freud noted as the Father of modern Psychology, believed that the function of dreaming was to allow the release of repressed instinctual impulses in a way that would preserve the ability to sleep, and that the instigating force causing dreams to occur was always a repressed thought or wish…

b. Bardo of the Dream State (Yoga) Dreams are a continuation of the lifetime of habitual patterns that one dreams even while
awake. This bardo is referred to as being double-deluded. It is deluded in the sense that it arises within the previous bardo, which is deluded, and because itself is deluded. In the dream state we also reflect on our collective delusions. When trying to meditate we experience all sorts of distraction. The same thing occurs to us while sleeping, but this is only a problem if you think they are real.

The Bardo of the Dream State is similar to that when we die except that its duration is different. The six senses withdraw into the central alaya - the basis of all - and one's senses become dull, etc. Most beings then withdraw into a state of unawareness but if you are able to remain conscious you are able to make good use of this time. One's six senses still work at this time and objects still appear to them.

8. Charlatan: A person who makes elaborate, fraudulent, and often voluble claims to skill or knowledge; a fraud.

9. About 10-34 seconds after the creation (of the universe), when the temperature was perhaps one thousand trillion trillion degrees, a bubble no more than 10-24 cm might have undergone an expansion by a factor of maybe 1050! At about 10-32 seconds this hyper-expansion stopped, leaving the bubble 1026cm across (that is, 100 million light years). However, the bit of the universe we can observe would have been, at that early time, only a few centimeters across! After 10-32 seconds the normal big bang evolution takes over.

10. Sodium 22: A radioactive isotope of sodium, atomic mass 22, having a half-life of 2.60 years and decaying by positron emission (0.545, 1.83 MeV) with electron capture and emission of gamma rays (1.275 MeV). It has been used in the determination of body sodium space and total exchangeable sodium.

11. Betatron: A magnetic induction electron accelerator capable of accelerating electrons to energies of several hundred million electron volts.

Use in particle accelerator: When electrons are accelerated, they undergo a large increase in mass at a relatively low energy. At 1 MeV energy, an electron weighs two and one-half times as much as an electron at rest. Synchrocyclotrons cannot be adapted to make allowance for such large increases in mass. Therefore, another type of cyclic accelerator, the betatron, is employed to accelerate electrons.

12. Cloud Chamber: Apparatus that detects high-energy particles passing through a supersaturated vapor; each particle ionizes molecules along its path and small droplets condense on them to produce a visible track.

10, 11, 12: A phycicist named Michio Kaku built a particle accelerator (A device, such as a cyclotron or linear accelerator, that accelerates charged subatomic particles or nuclei to high energies) in his garage. First he bought Sodium-22 and made a cloud chamber. He then scavenged junkyards for large pieces of steel to build a betatron. Finally Kaku wound 22 miles of copper wire to complete his particle accelerator. “I was gratified that the machine successfully produced a magnetic field 20,000 times more powerful than the earth’s magnetic field, which is necessary to accelerate a beam of electrons.” – Kaku

The importance of particle accelerators: “The high energy ones are crucial for the understanding of the origin of our Universe and of the formation of heavy nuclei, without which the Earth could not exist. Moreover they give the information needed to falsify any new 'theory of everything'.”

Eventually, this accelerator technology could mean particle colliders with higher efficiencies, lower operation costs and greater collision energies. Physicists could explore in greater detail the forces and particles inside atoms, reproducing in the laboratory the very fires of creation.

13. Nicknames for legendary American spies Daulton Lee and Charles Boyce active during the seventies. Also the title of an eighties movie about the two spies.

“Likely the most difficult pair of agents (spies) the Russians worked with in this period were two young, American walk-ins, Christopher Boyce and Andrew Daulton Lee. Boyce, as noted before, was the son of an FBI agent and used his father's connections to secure a job with the Southern California Aerospace firm that made satellites for the CIA. When he became disenchanted with the American foreign policy and his colleagues at work, Boyce approached his childhood friend Lee, who'd by then grown into an ambitious drug-smuggler. The two were altar boys together at St. John Fisher. Daulton, as he preferred to be called, had been running cocaine and marijuana since high school and, at 23, had recently moved into the more lucrative business of smuggling Mexican heroin. The two devised a scheme by which Boyce would steal classified material from work, and Lee would use his experience in the drug-trade to get it to Mexico for sale to the Russians-squeezing them for maximum profit.

From April 1975 to late 1976 Boyce and Lee sold operating manuals and detailed technical data for some of America's most sophisticated satellites to the KGB residency in Mexico City. They made tens of thousands of dollars between them, which Lee then turned into several times that by re-investing it in the drug trade. Though less prolific than Prime and Walker, Boyce and Lee deserve mention for the cold-blooded efficiency of their operation. Lee, in effect, had the KGB bankrolling his drug business.

Yet despite their moral (and in some cases intellectual) poverty, these men were used by the Soviets to steal some of the most-guarded secrets of American and British intelligence in the 1970s and 80s.”

14. Coca –Cola can reference (only material found): [X comments on the difficulty of keeping military secrets in a BlackNet
environment.]

Yes, which is why I always used to use "B-2 Stealth Bomber blueprints for
sale" as my canonical example of a BlackNet ad. Hundreds of folks at
Northrup had access to various levels of B-2 secrets. The "problem" for them
was that military intelligence (Defense Intelligence Agency, Office of Naval
Intelligence, CIA, NDA, etc.) was watching them (and they knew this) and
monitoring the local bars and after-work hangouts. Read "The Falcon and the
Snowman," or rent the movie, for some details on this.
Anonymous markets completely change the equation!
(By the way, many other "tradecraft" aspects of espionage are similarly
changed forever....and probably already have been changed. Gone will be the messages left in coke cans by the side of the road, the so-called "dead
drops" so favored by spies for communicating microfilm, microdots, and coded
messages. What I call "digital dead drops" already allow nearly untraceable, unrestricted information.

16. Why a Modem/What's a Modem

The voice frequency channels of the general switched telephone network have been used extensively for the transmission of digital data.To use these channels, the data must be put in a form that can be sent over a limited bandwidth line. In voice grade telephonenetworks, transformers, carrier systems and loaded lines attenuate all signals below 300 Hz and above 3400 Hz.

While the bandwidth from 300 Hz and above 3400 Hz. is fine for voice transmission,it is not possible for transmission of digital data because the data has many frequency components above this range. To transmit data through phone lines,it is necessary to convert digital data into the signal that is totally within the frequency range. This function is performed by MODEM(MOdulatorDEmodulator)

In full duplex data transmission-the simultaneous sending and receiving of data-Frequency Division Multiplexing(FDM) can be used for data rates up to 2400 bits per second. In FDM, the voice channel is divided into upper and lower bands(called the high band and thelow band);one is used for sending and the other is for receiving data. The originating terminals transmits in the low band and receives in the high band, while the answering terminal transmits in the high band and receives in the low band.

In low speed modems(300bps transmission rate), the modulation technique commonly employed is called Frequency Shift Keying(FSK). In FSK modems, four separate frequencies are used;1070 Hz for a zero(also called a space)in the low band,1270 Hz for a one(a mark)in the low band,2025Hz for a zero in the high band and 2225Hzfor a one in the high band .The transmitting modem takes the digital ones and zeros from the terminal and converts them into proper tones which are sent over the phone line. The receiving modem takes the tones and converts them back to ones and zeros and sends them to the receiving terminal. Since four frequencies are used ,simultaneously transmitting and receiving data can be accomplished.

17. In searching for writings on Natural Theology, I found a very interesting essay by a scientist from the Harvard Smithonian Center for Astrophysics. Dr. Owen Gingerich makes a convincing argument that the universe was created by Intelligent Design because the physical constants had to be so finely tuned for the universe to exist today, and even more finely tuned for life to exist, that only an intelligent being could do so.

"…it looks as if the entire universe has been tuned-shall I say designed?-for the emergence of intelligent life. And these facts have not escaped notice. The evidence of design appeared so striking that cosmologists even gave it a name: the anthropic principle. The initial energy balance of the universe and many other details were so extraordinarily right that it seemed the universe had been expressly designed to produce intelligent, sentient beings. Such was the original context that led to the anthropic principle.”

18. (Doesn’t seem to be a word, make what you will of this usage I found. Perhaps it has meaning amongst psychologists) Freud, who does not agree with the linearity of the historiography of Enlightenment, with its idea of progress, introduces a dimension of counter-time where end and beginning are joined.
Even while he is replacing the sacred dimension of prophecy with the profane dimension of hermeneutic science, Freud denies what he seems to be advocating, a complete laicization of history. In a sense, the past prefigures the future, but this does not happen by prolonging its trajectories in a Cartesian perspective. As the trauma at the basis of hysteria demonstrates, there is no cause-effect consequentiality in the unconscious. It is rather the atemporal element of time, the resistance to motion, the immodified aspect of experience, the unthought of in thought that we can predict will return in the unintentional form of the repetition compulsion.

19. Henry Herbert had the title of ‘Earl of Carnarvon’ bestowed upon him by George III in 1780 for his diplomacy and courage when handling a difficult political situation at the time of the Gordon Riots, and this title has been carried through the line of succession to the present day. It was the 3rd Earl who demanded that his home should reflect the wealth and importance of his status, and he commissioned Barry to create an ostentatious, country gentleman’s home. The elaborate stone carvings, and the numerous ‘gothic’ pinnacles are an unmistakable trademark of the Victorian era, when everything tended to be exaggerated almost to the point of saturation. Barry, renowned for his reconstruction of the Houses of Parliament in the late Perpendicular style, apparently preferred the ‘Anglo-Italian’ style of architecture he created for Highclere.

20. A Mason belief in the existence of God as The Grand Architect of the Universe.

Masonry expressly denies it is a religion.

Freemasonry is a non-Christian occult religion that teaches a different way to salvation and considers Jesus, Buddha, Confucius, and all spiritual leaders to be only messengers of " The Grand Architect of the Universe". The Grand Architect is not just another term for Jehovah. Freemasonry teaches that there are two basic Gods: Adonay, the god of the Christians, a god of evil and Lucifer, a separate god of good. Freemasonry considers the religious scriptures of all religions to be equally valid.

21. Partisan: A firm adherent to a party, faction, cause, or person; especially: one exhibiting blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance.

22. [22a] Professor Rudolph A. Marcus is being rewarded (the Nobel Peace Prize) for his theoretical work on electron transfer - work which has greatly stimulated experimental developments in chemistry. The processes Marcus has studied, the transfer of electrons between molecules in solution, underlie a number of exceptionally important chemical phenomena, and the practical consequences of his theory extend over all areas of chemistry. The Marcus theory describes, and makes predictions concerning, such widely differing phenomena as the fixation of light energy by green plants, photochemical production of fuel, chemiluminescence ("cold light"), the conductivity of electrically conducting polymers, corrosion, the methodology of electrochemical synthesis and analysis, and more.

[22b] Back electron transfer (BET) is slower than charge separation by up to 2 orders of magnitude in these systems. The BET rate is slower in nonpolar than in polar solvents, indicating that BET occurs in the Marcus inverted region, where the rate decreases as the thermodynamic driving force for BET increases.

Analysis of the BET data using Marcus theory gives reorganization energies for these systems between 0.6 and 0.8 eV and electronic coupling matrix elements between 4.8 and 5.6 cm-1.

23. However, there is no independent evidence for the existence of such a route (see Howard Franklin, 1988). A second explanation (e.g. Beauvois, 1982) is that semantics is not a unitary entity, but is separated into visual and verbal components. Visual input can only directly access visual semantics, and naming can only be based on verbal semantics. Visual object naming requires communication from ....

After discussing and comparing some decompositional approaches to verbal semantics, we develop requirements for semantic representations. These argue for an object-oriented approach to verbal semantics.

24. Aurora Borealis: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

The northern lights occur when charged particles emitted by the sun strike the Earth's atmosphere. The resulting visual displays can be beautiful and dramatic.

25. …

26. During the middle years of the twentieth century two important but very different collections of ancient religious texts were unearthed in Palestine and Egypt: The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi Library. Visitors to the Gnostic Society Library often do not understand the distinction between these two discoveries. Since our Library collection contains a vast amount of material related specifically to the Nag Hammadi texts (including complete translations), a brief description of the two discoveries might be useful.

What are popularly called The Dead Sea Scrolls consist of a very large number of scrolls – most poorly preserved and many surviving only as tiny scraps – discovered in a series of eleven caves near Qumran and the Dead Sea beginning around 1947. Over 800 separate texts of several divergent types are now recognized among this find. The scrolls date from the "intertestamental period" – a period ranging from about 250 BCE to 100 CE, the epoch after textual formation of the "Old Testament" but still before the formation of Christianity and rabbinical Judaism.
(Very interesting, click the following link to browse some of the text found in the scrolls http://www.gnosis.org/library/scroll.htm )

A table of events related to the Dead Sea Scroll Discovery, and the debates surrounding their publication and interpretation:
1949 -- [Feb.] Harding authorizes Roland de Vaux of French Dominican l'Ecole Biblique to survey Cave 1 where the first 7 scrolls had been discovered. Many more fragments recovered, including original Hebrew versions of Jubilees & the Testament of Levi.

27. The Galapagos Archipelago is a cluster of some 13 volcanic islands and associated islets and rocks located just under the equator, about 800 kilometers west of the Ecuadorian coast and directly on the equator. The archipelago encompasses over 50 islands of volcanic origin that are spread out over an area of about 4,500 square kilometers. The volcanic Galapagos platform originated probably not more than 15 million years ago and the oldest island not more than 2.4 million years ago.

Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction, about 65 million years ago – extinction of all Dinosaurs.

28. Naïveté: An artless, credulous, or uncritical statement or act.

29. Biochemical deficiencies or imbalances in the brain are a major factor in compulsive disorders such as craving for alcohol, drugs, or food. They can be caused by genetic deficiencies or by environment. By improving brain nutrition, we can help to correct these imbalances, opening the way to recovery.
Sufficient improvement in brain nutrition can rarely, if ever, be brought about by diet alone. You can take in bananas and milk for an increase in tryptophan or serotonin; eggs or other protein for phenylalanine or dopamine; and cheese for tyrosine or norepinephrine, and it will help, but probably not enough.
To materially affect brain nutrition, certain amino acids must be used in amounts high enough to make specific changes in the supply and balance of neurotransmitters and enzymes.

Research findings in the last four decades strongly suggest that when the brain has adequate supplies of amino acids, the building blocks for brain chemicals, behavior tends to be normal. Inadequate or imbalanced supplies of these building blocks lead to deficits or imbalances in neurotransmitters and neuromodulators, causing abnormal and uncontrollable behavior such as the craving for, and addiction to, substances such as alcohol, drugs, or food.

30. Hormones regulate numerous body functions. Neurotransmitters regulate processes in the brain. They determine your mood, appetite, emotions, memory, sex-drive etc. If metabolism of hormones is impaired, malfunctions in the body will occur. (Too little estrogen causes osteoporosis and infertility; too much can cause cancer). If metabolism of neurotransmitters is impaired, you may experience memory lapses, cravings, depressions, or become obsessive, anxious, sexually disturbed etc. Many neurotransmitters may be involved in central regulation of body temperature in normothermia, during heat and cold stress, in fever, and in exercise. Together with other body mechanisms, these neurotransmitters direct such functions as appetite, attention and blood pressure.

which is poetry about rustic life, statues, symbols, and shrubs.
