16 bar mix chopped to fuck mix from the upcoming KG mixtape 16 16's.

Couplets have been chopped Using the Drawn and Quartered choppin process as shown below (half bar choppin) over RZA's Execute Them Beat off The Swarm

Constructive feedback would be nice.

I procured a small piece of the treasure kilo tonnes of pressure
Terminated his tenure in such a way you will remember
Take a look at the bars, I don’t govern them
Was it done by a prophet speaking in tongues again
Hot but cold blooded, very few love him
Rip the Jacker show these niggas something
The rhyme is a weapon, rappers are captured and punished
Read me the numbers that can brighten the dullest
What should we called it, “Drawn and Quartered”
You still alive? I repeat where to ‘Drop Mortars’
Skull is a submarine hull in a cave below ground
I can smell the shit from space serpents flying around
Poseidon trident seahorse participated every war
At least half of my crew scream with extreme force
Judge me fairly when man meets ministry
They can’t battle me so they clone me lyrically

wow, lyrics are the shit. it sounds a bit rough though, some bars are too short so it doesn't really flow well, but dope nevertheless

Good use of the chopping right here.

It is off beat here and there and this is something that I can empathise with and understand completely.

In my new mix every single bar can contain anywhere from 1-4 individually chopped slices of vocal and the problem that inherently present the mixer with is the task of both keeping them within each bar, time wise and also tryna to ensure that the words flow as best as possible. At first I was chopping them up and they sounded either A) too bunched together as to leave a big gap at the end of the bar, or B: were too spaced out and disjointed. I have had to acknowldge this and tackle it head on but it can be done and is very rewarding once its complete. It is a time ocnsuming process though. I suppose it comes down to the indivual mixer and what they would be satisfied with as the end product. I am of the mind of trying my best to make it sound as seamless as possible but even then certain bars comprising of words spat at diffrent tempos and tones will crop up here and there and disript the smoothness..

Yo dont be leaking half the tape before its complete though man I want the experience to be as fresh to my ears as poss when it drops as a whole.

thanks,

what parts were off beat? the end of each half bar sounds like it lands on the drum to me although i know it defo not Omni standard. all the couplets sound like they fit within the loop too. but sometimes you don't notice in on your own mixes ass much.

i know that it started too early but you need to do that with the first bars on ploo cos they alot longer.

i agree that some bars sounded a bit bunched up towards the end but that was to ensure they landed on the drum.
i might go back and change the bpm of the vocals slightly.

i did restrict myself abit too.
I tried to use mainly the first 16 bars of the PLOO layers, i could have used other parts to make it sound more seamless but i wanted to stick to the first 16 bars for most of it,
Plus due to the theme of the mixtape i had to stick to half bars and couldn't add more words to pad it out in parts were there may be a space in the vocals.

But it was only a quick choppin session which i didnt wanna spend forever makin it sound perfect. i might go back and try and sort it out a bit.

thanks for the feedback

One piece of advice: don't restrict yourself.

Oh certainly, I didn't mean to come off as if I didn't like it, it's great. Great chopping.
Knowledge God
i wouldn't normally restrict myself but i decided to make a mixtape 16 16's all 16 bar verses with four being normal vocals, 4 being couplet chopped, 4 being bar chopped and 4 half bar chopped.

So it's never gonna sound perfect, but it should be decent enough.

i should put a bit more time into them like i did with Respect but i'm not Striving For Perfection at the minute.

i'll try and fix this up a bit if i can. thanks for feedback

certainly. that mix is crazy, your best one so far i think. i was really surprised by all the high quality mixes people sent me for Illmatic oo... not saying i supposed them to be wack, but most of the mixes are really top standard, like yours.

Yeah KG came of age when he dropped that mix on the NASoo album...I hit repeat on tha one str8 away.
Knowledge God
i've took on board the feedback and improved the mix a bit, it's still not perfect. but it sounds alot better. gonna play with it more before the mixtape drops.

i reduced the bpm of the beat slightly and altered the bpm of some of the vocals, some were too fast, etc.
added a nice sample at the beginning too and some effects.

This is sick KG. Can't wait to hear the mixtape
