Probably clothing. I've thought about designing and selling T-Shirts online. I wouldn't mind owning a small store either. Some of them seem to just get by but some of them get a lot of attention with the right promotion and a unique vibe/aesthetic.

I'd work with as few people as possible, people are not dependable and throw too many unknown (and unwanted) variables into the mix. The online tees I'd do solo, perhaps collaborating with any decent artists I meet. The store i've given less thought to, but i'd almost certainly need to hire/work with people to help with that.

Just got into building guitars recently. I wouldn't mind doing that either but in my current situation its a long shot.

The reason why I posed this question is because most dont realize the amount of opportunities there are if you are ambitious enough. I figure this thread can help people generate the thought process, and start creating their own financial independance. I will eventually post small business links and stuff to help.

It's good to know that you have at least entertained the possibility of securing your future by your own rules.

I recently started up my own little Photography business. Mainly doing weddings - It seems to be where the money is at, and you're kind of free to do whatever you think will suit, compared to other photography. I tried doing corporate shit, but it's too much fucking around and the clients are usually up-start little rich pricks who want it 110% their way. I also do the odd portrait shots for families but Weddings is where its at.

6 hours of work and I pull in $1500-1800. You spend about $100-200 on prints, album, fuel, etc. So you come out with usually a solid $1300 of profit - Working out at around $150+ an hour once you've done the running around and any photo-shopping that is needed after the actual wedding.

Not bad, really. And it's completely tax-free -- As in Australia, for some reason I can lodge it as a Hobby, seeing as it isn't a full-time job, technically. Obviously most weddings fall on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday, so yeah. So I pull in around $3500 for 3 days work and get 4 days off. I just hope it keeps up.
