Now this is truly disgusting. I already knew about this and have seen this happen before my own eyes, as I used to rear caterpillars as a hobby when I was younger. Stick around for the end, it has a VERY interesting twist to it. I never knew this.

If the link doesn't bring you to a video featuring a yellow caterpillar, click the picture of said caterpillar in the right menu.

Wow- you've seen this happen?
Interesting, but kind of messed up at the same time...
XPreNN
Yeah, it's even grosser when you see it happen tongue.gif

The interesting bit to me was how the caterpillar's brain gets hijacked by this parasite.
The Xzampster
You used to fuck caterpillars?
XPreNN
The process of capturing the larvae, then feeding them until they pupate and grow into butterflies is called 'the rearing of caterpillars'.

In other words: no, I did not fuck caterpillars when I was a kid.

And for that comment I will call your mother a female Vapourer Moth. See there! Hah!
The Xzampster

WOW, now thats interesting, is that really true? did those wasps control that larve its brain???thats wow...
how can they be sure tho?? maybe its instinctive behaviour? is this with all larves??
Poetic
^ I think it's the virus from the wasp that enters the caterpillar's brain, making it act like that.
I'm not sure, but maybe the wasps can only invade certain kinds of caterpillars that are able to handle that kind of trauma.

interesting!
Im surpriced that caterpillar didnt die when like 50 of those wasps ate themself outside lol
